A female teacher at an Indian school was fired from her job after expressing happiness over Pakistan’s victory against India in the T20 World Cup, reported India Today.

The Muslim teacher, Nafeesa Attari, was working at the Neerja Modi School in Indian state Rajasthan’s Udaipur area. She had put up a status on WhatsApp with pictures of Pakistani openers, captioned “we won”.

When one of the parents asked her if she supported Pakistan, she responded in the affirmative.

Screenshot of Nafeesa’s status was shared by different people, following which the school management terminated her.

India was crushed by 10 wickets by rivals Pakistan in the Twenty20 World Cup.

Captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan steered Pakistan to their first ever win over India in World Cups with a clinical performance in Dubai.

Openers Babar (68) and Rizwan (79) steered Pakistan to their target of 152 with 13 balls to spare.

But it was Shaheen Shah Afridi’s lethal spell of bowling that rattled India who slipped to 3-31 with swashbuckling opener Rohit Sharma back in the pavilion for nought.

India came into the game with a 12-0 unbeaten record against their rivals in T20 and 50-over World Cups, but Pakistan broke the jinx.
