The Pakistan Cricket Board has advised Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad to limit their social media usage during the tournament in order to limit their chances of interacting with bookies.

An Urdu anti-corruption lecture was also given to the cricket team to showcase how bookies get access to the players. The case of former South African Gulam Bodi was also discussed and how he was given a five-year sentence.

After several high-profile cases, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and individual cricketing boards amped up their efforts to eliminate match-fixing from cricket, which led to higher scrutiny and increased security.

This, however, caused a huge problem for the bookies who then turned to social media to approach the T20 World Cup players.

The players are requested to post cricket relevant content on their social media account whether it is thoughts on the game played or appreciation of a teammate.

Moreover, to ensure there is no leak of personal data, the players were told not to buy old or second-hand phones and recommend to use iPhone over Android.

The players are also advised to contact the board immediately if any bookie approaches them or if any player is involved in any suspicious activity.

The T20 World Cup will get started from 17^th October and Pakistan will face their fierce rivals India in their first match on 24^th October.
