Senior NATO official appreciates Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: A senior official of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) appreciated Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan, including the successful evacuation operations and efforts for regional stability, read a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media win shared that Senior Civil Representative NATO Stefano Pontecorvo called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the officials discussed matters related to mutual interest, peace and stability in the region and Afghanistan.

“There is a need for global convergence on Afghanistan to avoid humanitarian crisis,” COAS remarked during the meeting.

Meanwhile, Pontecorvo lauded Pakistan for its role in the Afghan situation, including successful evacuation operations and efforts for regional stability.

The official assured the COAS to enhance cooperation with Pakistan on Afghanistan and regular engagement by the NATO countries for all bilateral issues.
