Upon the orders of the London High Court, British-Pakistani journalist Reham Khan has apologised to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s former special assistant Zulfi Bukhari for levelling “false allegations” against him in Roosevelt Hotel’s sale.

On December 6, 2019, the former wife of PM Imran, via a YouTube video, had raised a question of Sayed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari alias Zulfi Bukhari’s alleged involvement in the sale of the hotel. The broadcast was later shared on social media.

Bukhari later sued Khan for defamation at the UK court to battle the allegations out, saying he was targeted and accused of corruption.

‘Allegations were false and untrue’

In a video statement, Khan has admitted that her accusations against Bukhari were “false,” and she now believed that he was not involved in the sale of the Roosevelt Hotel.

“On December 7, I retweeted a tweet of Syed Touqeer Bukhari in which he had asserted that Zulfi Bukhari was trying to sell the valuable national asset in exchange for a small amount of money through cheating or favouritism,” said Khan in the video.

“These allegations were false and untrue. Now I believe that neither Zulfi Bukhari was involved in cheating or favouritism nor he was trying to sell The Roosevelt Hotel for peanuts,” she maintained.

Khan also apologised for claiming in March 2020, that Bukhari had sent a notice to journalists for criticising his arrangements regarding the coronavirus pandemic. She said those accusations were wrong too.

Sharing the video of the apology, Bukhari said in his tweet on Friday, “Truth always wins!” and added, she also had to pay damages for her “lies.”

He hoped that one day Pakistan will also have the same law and justice, so certain media persons spreading lies and fake news can be taken to task. “This is the result when rule of law is supreme. Next stop: Commissioner Rawalpindi,” he added.

Reham is a “habitual” liar

Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry lauded the British court for ordering Khan to pay the damages with an apology for falsely accusing Bukhari.

“Media owners launch campaigns against any attempts to introduce such a law in Pakistan by terming it against the freedom of speech,” he complained.

“Anyways, it has been proved again that Reham is a liar. In fact, she is a habitual liar,” Chaudhry claimed.
