25 lawyers booked for assaulting PTI’s Laila Parveen, her brother

KARACHI: More than 25 lawyers have been booked for allegedly assaulting Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Laila Parveen and her brother Mushtaq Iqbal.

The case against the counsels has been lodged at Malir City police station under different sections.

The FIR mentions that Laila Parveen had gone to follow a suit about a bounced cheque at Malir Court. It read that former husband of Laila, Ali Hasnain, had given a rubber cheque of Rs6.5 million to Mushtaq Iqbal, while paying his loan.

The plaintiff said a case was lodged against Ali Hasnain for the bounced cheque at SITE Superhighway police station. Laila’s ex-husband was arrested by the police following the case.

The PTI leader said she went to the court as she was summoned to appear in the case. She said she was stopped on gun point from attending the case hearing and then multiple counsels attacked them.

She claimed that her gold chain and other jewelry were also lost during the torture incident.

Police said several advocates were nominated in the FIR.

A video of torture on Laila and her brother has gone viral on social media.

In a video statement, the PTI leader had claimed that she even fainted after the physical assault. She had demanded Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed to cancel licenses of all the lawyers who were involved in the incident.
