Covid-19 positivity ratio drops below one per cent in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Saturday said the national Covid positivity ratio during the past 24 hours was recorded at 0.68 per cent during the last 24 hours in Pakistan.

The tally of Covid-19 active cases was recorded 23,090 with 231 more people tested positive for the deadly virus and 460 people recovered from the disease.

At least 11 coronavirus patients died during the last 24 hours, 10 of the deceased were under treatment at different hospitals and one of them died at his home, according to the latest update issued by the NCOC.

Out of the total 11 deceased, four of them perished on ventilators.

Most of the deaths occurred in Punjab followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

There were 1,119 Covid-19 infected patients under treatment in critical condition in various Covid dedicated healthcare facilities of the country.

The maximum ventilators were occupied in four major cities including Islamabad 12 per cent, Peshawar 19 per cent, Lahore 10 per cent, and Multan 30 per cent.

The maximum oxygen beds (alternate oxygen providing facility other than ventilator administered as per the medical requirement of Covid patient) were also occupied in four major cities — Swabi 21 per cent, Lahore 14 per cent, Sargodha 30 per cent, and Multan 43 per cent.

Around 122 ventilators were occupied elsewhere in the country while no Covid affected person was on a ventilator in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Balochistan, and Gilgit Baltistan (GB).
