ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Vice-President Maryam Nawaz is behind fake and doctored audios that have recently surfaced on social media.

Addressing a press conference after a cabinet meeting, the information minister said that the intention behind the videos is to pressurise the judiciary.

“It is not the first time that they have released such audios,” he said in reference to an alleged audio of former chief justice Saqib Nisar.

Chaudhry expressed hope that the judiciary is going to reject the pressure and bring the case to a logical end.

“Maryam has a team that prepares videos, fake tapes and then leaks them. Maybe she is also behind the videos of her party members. In Pakistan’s history, no political party has ever been involved in such derogatory practice. We condemn this move,” he added.

The information minister said that the government will act in letter and spirit on any direction given by the court on this case.
