After Australia defeated Pakistan in the second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup on Thursday night, there was nothing much for Pakistani fans to celebrate.

However, Pakistan’s Haris Rauf and Australia’s Glenn Maxell went viral over the internet after they exchanged jerseys after the match.

Both players had poor returns during the knockout clash. Rauf concealed 32 runs in his quota of four overs, while Maxwell only scored 7 runs before he was dismissed by leg-spinner Shadab Khan.

On his Instagram profile, Maxwell said he was proud of Haris Rauf, “I’m so proud of how far this young man has come!”

Maxwell lauded Rauf’s magnificent performance for the Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Melbourne Stars and for his national team.

“What he has done for the @starsbbl and Pakistan cricket has been extraordinary! He is a fine human and a great teammate, and someone who I will always treasure as a friend. You are a superstar,” Maxwell posted on his Instagram account.

Pakistan was the only team in the tournament that reached the semifinal without losing a single game.

Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade and Marcus Stoinis helped Australia book their spot in the final against New Zealand.

Kangaroos will be locking horns with the Kiwis in the final game of the mega event on Sunday at Dubai International Stadium.
