Twitterati demand capital punishment for Zahir Jaffer

ISLAMABAD: Twitterati on Sunday demanded capital punishment, mostly about hanging Zahir Jaffer after the surveillance camera footages related to Noor Mukadam’s murder in Islamabad surfaced the internet.

The new closed circuit TV (CCTV) footages show how Noor Mukadam made an abortive attempt to flee from house of Zahir Jaffer.

On July 18, at 10:19pm, Noor was seen entering the suspect’s house while talking to someone on phone. Watchman Iftikhar is also visible in the video. Then, in one video of July 20, she is seen jumping in the porch area of the house from first floor in a desperate bid to flee from the house, but the watchman blocks her way.

The 27-year-old woman can also be seen in a video begging Zahir Jaffer, 30, to let her go.

Noor Mukadam, the daughter of a former ambassador, was brutally murdered on July 20 by her friend Zahir Jaffer in Islamabad. The brutal murder had, in July, sparked protests across the country.

The victim was attacked after refusing a marriage proposal. The Pakistani-American man had raped and tortured her with a knuckle duster before beheading her with a “sharp-edged weapon”.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had pledged that the accused would not escape justice regardless, being part of the Pakistani elite and a dual national.

Now Twitterati have launched a campaign demanding hanging of Zahir Jaffer to death.
