ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Thursday instructed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf members of the Public Accounts Committee to not show leniency even to the members of the party in case of their involvement in any financial misdealing.

Speaking in a meeting, the premier expressed his disappointment that the performance of the public accounts committee – meant to keep transparency on public funds – is not bringing desired results. “Be it this government or previous government spare no one,” he instructed.

The party’s legislators who are the members of the PAC held the civil servants responsible behind no action against the corrupt elements. They told him that the PAC could only look into the audit reports, the prime responsibility rests with the Federal Investigation Agency and National Accountability Bureau.

They also added that the opposition members in the committee tend to put covers over the financial malpractices linked to their party.
