Chart-topping after a physical assault in New York City, British pop artist Tom Grennan was taken to the hospital.

On social media, his manager, John Dawkins, wrote:

”In the early hours of [Thursday] morning after Tom’s New York show, he was the victim of an unprovoked attack and robbery outside a bar in Manhattan. Tom is currently being assessed by doctors for his injuries which include a ruptured ear, torn eardrum and issue with his previously fractured jaw. Despite this Tom is in good spirits but needs to temporarily recuperate while doctors assess his ability to continue with his touring.”

The 26-year-old Bedford native was assaulted by a bunch of strangers when he was 18 years old, leaving him with a metal plate and screws in his jaw for the rest of his life.

Grennan had his breakthrough in 2017 with the slow-burning smash Found What I’ve Been Looking For, which was certified gold in the United Kingdom. Evering Road, his second album, debuted at No. 1 in 2021 and had two Top 10 songs, Let’s Go Home Together and Little Bit of Love. At this year’s Brit Awards, the latter song was nominated for song of the year, and he was also nominated in the rock/alternative category. He released a new track, Remind Me, last month.

Grennan has cancelled a concert scheduled for this weekend in Washington, DC. Grennan’s fans were hailed by Dawkins for their support.
