The Russian invasion of Ukraine has produced broad devastation that cannot be adequately articulated in words. Buildings have been demolished, hospitals and monuments have been damaged, innocent citizens have been slain, and approximately five million Ukrainians have fled the nation. The Ukrainian foreign ministry has been recording the devastation caused by the war on its Twitter account, @MFA Ukraine.
The Ukrainian foreign ministry posted a series of images taken by Ukrainian photographer and documentary filmmaker Mikhail Palinchak depicting kindergarten classrooms in Kyiv’s Makariv area that have been reduced to rubble as a result of the fighting. These images were shared on the filmmaker’s Instagram account.
“It’s hard to think that just a few months ago, there were kindergartens with dozens of children learning and having fun,” the post said.
For the 73rd day in a row, violence has erupted in Ukraine. On May 6, the Ukrainian foreign ministry released photos of an Irpin resort and spa before and after the Russian assault.

According to the Kharkiv regional governor, Russian shelling targeted a museum devoted to philosopher and poet Hryhoriy Skovoroda in the hamlet of Skovorodynivka, resulting in a fire that destroyed the facility. Skovoroda, a prominent 18th century philosopher and poet of Cossack descent from Ukraine, spent the latter years of his life on an estate of local landowners in the village of Ivanovka, which was later renamed Skovorodynivka in his honour.
