ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered the authorities not to register FIRs against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members in the Masjid-e-Nabwi incident.

Chief Justice IHC Athar Minallah while remarking over the case condemn the use of religion for political gains and urged the government to look into the matter.

The case was heard against the FIRs at the request of PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry who opined before the court that religion was used by different groups in the past but this was the first time that the government itself is playing the religion card.

The court remarked that the incident that took place in Madinah was immoral and the political use of religion is blasphemy.

The PTI petitioner maintained that their stance is clear in this regard and underscored that PTI leader Qasim Suri was attacked during Ramzan over the issue.

The court adjourned the hearing for two weeks while ordering the police not to register FIRs against PTI members in the case.

Notably, a case was lodged against 150 PTI members including PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry, Shahbaz Gill, Sheikh Rashid and others at a Faisalabad police station, pertaining to raising slogans against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his delegation at Masjid-e-Nabawi (SAWW) in Saudi Arabia.

According to the FIR, 150 people led by Sheikh Rashid Shafiq were sent to Saudi Arabia to conduct preplanned hooliganism. The lawsuit alleges that the incident took place under a premeditated conspiracy.
