According to British intelligence authorities, Russia has likely lost one-third of its ground combat forces in Ukraine, and the units that remain are weak and have been unable to make any territorial gain in recent weeks.

The United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense claimed in an update that Russia “has now likely sustained casualties of one-third of the ground combat force it committed in February.”

“Russia’s Donbas offensive has lost momentum and is far behind schedule,” according to the study. “Despite small-scale initial victories, Russia has failed to secure significant territorial gains in the last month while maintaining continuously high levels of attrition.”

The UK government has stated that these losses will “almost surely” worsen when tactical and support equipment runs out.

The UK government stated, “These delays will very probably be compounded by the loss of vital enablers such as bridging equipment and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance drones.” “Throughout the fight, Russian bridging equipment has been in short supply, limiting and hampering assault actions.”

“Russian soldiers are increasingly limited by… poor morale and diminished combat efficiency,” according to the assessment. The UK Defense Ministry anticipated that unless these conditions significantly changed, Russian forces would not be able to replicate their earlier victories.

“Under the existing circumstances, Russia is unlikely to significantly accelerate its rate of progress during the next 30 days.”

On February 24, Russia invaded Ukraine, and analysts expected that the Ukrainian military would be compelled to capitulate within weeks.
