As Congress reacts to gun violence around the country, the House of Representatives on Friday enacted the most comprehensive gun control law package.

Two mass shootings that occurred last month within a week of one another left dozens of people dead.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell claimed it will help make these horrifying incidents less likely.

The bill, which President Biden has already indicated he would swiftly sign into law.

The bill also demanded that the “boyfriend loophole,” which Democrats however pushed for years, be closed by prohibiting dating partners who however found guilty of abuse from purchasing weapons.

The provisions in the law may not have been sufficient to prevent the past two mass shootings in Texas or New York.

Despite the fact that it is the first gun control measure to pass through Congress in decades.

Payton Gendron had undergone a mental health evaluation in 2021. Gendron is accused of shooting and killing 10 people and injuring three more in a hate crime-related attack in Buffalo.

However, it appears that the incident did not qualify as a “red flag” notice.

“Where were the warning signs that he couldn’t lawfully buy these guns?” Sheriff John Garcia of Erie County, New York, reportedly faced questions following the incident last month.
