Proposal prepares to impose soft smog lockdown in Punjab

LAHORE: A proposal has been prepared to impose a soft smog lockdown to control smog in Punjab province.

Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi to convene a meeting of the Cabinet Committee for Anti-Smog today.

Sources said that provincial departments have prepared proposals for soft smog lockdown. The authorities proposed the complete closure of schools, colleges, and universities on Friday and markets, gyms, cinemas, theaters, and factories on Saturday.

According to government sources, it has been proposed to close restaurants on Saturday to prevent smog, only take-away and home delivery will be allowed on this day.

The movement of public and private vehicles will also be restricted in the city while half of the staff will work in government offices.

Sources said that the main reason for the increase in smog in Lahore is extraordinary traffic, the factories working against the law will be sealed and heavy fines will be imposed.
