ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP) summoned Firdous Ashiq Awan, the leader of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party(IPP) on the issue of slapping a police officer on duty during the elections.

The Election Commission has summoned Firdous Ashiq Awan on Monday. Apart from this, the concerned police officer has also been summoned.

It should be noted that Firdous Ashiq Awan had slapped a policeman in Sialkot. A case of the incident has also been registered.

According to the FIR, the official was on election duty in NA-70 Sialkot.

Earlier also in June 2021, Firdous Ashiq Awan had slapped PPP leader Qadir Khan Mandokhail and used vulgar words in a TV program.

Earlier, Centre Election Monitoring and Control Center of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has addressed 75 complaints related to the general elections.

Haroon Shinwari, head of the Monitoring Control Centre, stated that the complaints were generally minor, primarily concerning disputes and altercations among workers, all of which were promptly resolved on-site, ensuring the smooth conduct of the polls.

“The remaining ten complaints will be resolved shortly as the working on these complaints is underway,” In Charge Monitoring Control Center Haroon Khan Shinwari said.
