Saudia, Saudi Arabia’s national airline, has introduced the world’s first sanitizing prayer beads just in time for Ramadan and the Umrah season, when the country expects a significant number of guests and pilgrims.

Called ProtecTasbih, these prayer beads serve a dual purpose, combining the traditional practice of tasbih with hand sanitization. This innovative product represents a fusion of cultural tradition and modern health awareness.

The prayer beads utilize tea tree oil for sanitization, known for its effectiveness against a wide range of bacteria. The oil is incorporated into a solid bead using a special molding technique.

Mr. Essam Akhonbay, Saudia’s VP of Marketing, emphasized the airline’s dedication to guest well-being. He stated, “We are proud to introduce this unique product to enhance the pilgrimage experience, allowing our guests to fully engage in their spiritual journey.”

ProtecTasbih will be available on board for all Saudia guests, ensuring a healthier and more sanitary pilgrimage journey. Additionally, these innovative prayer beads have been distributed throughout the holy city of Makkah.
