West of Riyadh, the Afif desert was unexpectedly covered in snow on Friday following heavy rain and hail.
This surprising event captivated both desert dwellers and social media users, who eagerly shared videos and images of the transformed landscape, expressing their astonishment, according to the report.
The unexpected snowfall occurred amidst forecasts from weather maps and computer simulations predicting a new weather system to arrive in Saudi Arabia starting on Sunday.
This system is expected to bring widespread rainfall to the Kingdom, accompanied by thunderstorms, hail, and gusty winds, as reported by the publication.
Arabian weather indicated the likelihood of rain on Monday and Tuesday as a depression approached the northern regions of the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, in the UAE, the weather forecast suggests partly cloudy to cloudy conditions in island regions, some coastal areas, and the north, as reported by Khaleej Times, citing the National Centre of Meteorology. There is also a chance of light rainfall on Saturday, according to AFP.
