Lahore, Punjab Weather Forecast: Rain, Hailstrom Expected!
Heavy rain and hail are expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab...
As the week progresses, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various parts of Pakistan are bracing themselves for a significant weather event. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), widespread rains, accompanied by isolated heavy falls and hailstorms, are anticipated to sweep through the region from Thursday evening through Saturday.
A robust westerly wave is currently dominating much of Pakistan and is expected to grip the upper regions of the country by Friday. This weather system is likely to usher in rain, wind, and thunderstorms across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other areas over the next few days, with heavy falls and hailstorms predicted in certain locations.
The PMD has issued warnings concerning the potential for flash flooding in local waterways, including nullahs and streams, in various regions such as Dir, Swat, Chitral, and Kohistan. Landslides are also a concern in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Additionally, the combination of windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning poses risks to standing crops and infrastructure such as electric poles and solar panels.
In terms of temperatures, Islamabad is expected to see maximum temperatures ranging from 27 to 29 degrees Celsius on Friday and 29 to 31 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Similarly, Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures are forecast to be between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius on Friday and 28 and 30 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
Recent weather activity has already impacted regions across Balochistan, upper Sindh, and south-northern Punjab, with heavy rainfall reported in areas such as Gwadar, Ormara, and Pasni. Mithi registered as the hottest location in the country, with a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius, while Islamabad and Rawalpindi experienced lower maximum temperatures alongside moderate relative humidity levels.
As the anticipated weather system unfolds, residents are advised to stay informed about local forecasts and take necessary precautions to mitigate potential risks associated with heavy rains, hailstorms, and strong winds.
