Pakistan Weather Forecast: Schools Shut Due to Rain Threat!
In anticipation of severe weather conditions, all schools in Balochistan will remain closed today and tomorrow. This decision is prompted by Pakistan’s readiness for a succession of rainstorms, commencing with a light drizzle in Karachi today.
The Meteorological Department has identified a western wind system prevailing over Balochistan, expected to usher in a second wave of heavy rain in Karachi on April 17. This weather pattern extends beyond Karachi, with forecasts indicating additional rain in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.
The impact of these weather conditions is already evident in Lower Dir, where heavy rains have triggered a significant flood in the River Panjkora. Persistent rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is affecting Quetta and several other cities. Today, 16 districts in Balochistan are also predicted to witness rainfall.
The aftermath of rain has led to water accumulation on roads in Quetta, causing disruptions in the sewage system and inconvenience for residents. Responding to this situation, the Chief Minister of Balochistan has taken notice and issued immediate directives for remedial measures.
