IHC bars trial court from issuing final verdict in £190m case
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) stopped the trial court from pronouncing the final verdict in the £190 million case.
Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb heard the acquittal pleas of Pakistan Thereek e Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the £190 million case.
Founder PTI and Bushra Bibi have approached the Islamabad High Court against the decision of the accountability court, seeking acquittal from the case and stay of the trial.
It has been argued in the petition that the trial court should be restrained from proceeding with the trial while the case is pending in the High Court.
The Islamabad High Court heard the petition and ordered that the trial court should complete the trial but not give the final decision.
The court has directed the lawyers of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to submit the relevant documents and adjourned the hearing till September 26 while issuing notices on the acquittal petitions.
It should be noted that the accountability court had rejected the petition of the founder PTI and Bushra Bibi in the £190 million case.
Earlier, Founder Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) Imran Khan sought relief in £190 million case after the decision of the Supreme Court on the case related to NAB amendments.
The hearing of the £190 million reference against Imran Khan was held in Adiala Jail. During the hearing, the PTI founder filed an acquittal petition in the £190 million reference after the NAB amendment decision.
