Taylor Swift has unveiled her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, marking a glittering new chapter in her career.

Fans of Taylor Swift woke up early this morning to the surprise announcement of her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.

A countdown on Taylor Swift’s official website set against a glittering orange backdrop reached zero at 12:12 a.m. ET (9:12 a.m. Pakistan time) on August 12, sparking a wave of excitement and briefly crashing the site.

Swift officially revealed the album title during a preview clip on the New Heights podcast—hosted by her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, and his brother Jason Kelce.

In the video, she opens a mint-green briefcase stamped “T.S.” and declares, “This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl.” The album cover remains blurred for now.

Pre-orders are now live on her website, offering vinyl, cassette, and CD formats. A note specifies that items will ship before October 13, though the official release date remains unannounced.

The announcement also underscores Swift’s recent milestone: she now owns the master recordings of her first six albums, a goal she achieved in May 2025 after years of advocacy and the “Taylor’s Version” re-recording project

The full episode of New Heights, featuring Swift’s appearance, is scheduled to premiere this Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET , around 4AM Pakistan Time.

It’s widely expected to include more details possibly the album artwork, a track list, or an official release date.

“The Life of a Showgirl” follows last year’s “The Tortured Poets Department,” announced during the 2024 Grammys and released during her record-breaking tour, which raked in over $2.2 billion across two years and five continents, making it the highest-grossing tour of all time.

The album is also her first release since Swift regained control over her entire catalog. In May, that pop star said she purchased her catalog of recordings – originally released through Big Machine Records – from their most recent owner, the private equity firm Shamrock Capital. She did not disclose the amount.
