TIANJIN:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif joined regional leaders at the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Upon his arrival at the Meijiang Convention Center, the prime minister was warmly received by Chinese President Xi Jinping. The participating leaders later assembled for a group photograph before commencing the summit proceedings in north China’s Tianjin Municipality.
During the event, Prime Minister Shehbaz is scheduled to address both the SCO and SCO Plus meetings, in addition to holding bilateral engagements with leaders of various countries.
The SCO CHS Summit convenes Heads of State and Government from member countries, including Pakistan, China, India, Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus.
The SCO CHS Plus meeting, held in an expanded format, will include leaders from Mongolia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Türkiye, Egypt, the Maldives, Myanmar, Turkmenistan, Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, and Indonesia, as well as the Secretary-General of the United Nations and heads of various regional and international organizations.
Later, he will depart for Beijing, where he will participate in China’s Victory Day celebrations.
