Minsk: Pakistan’s Abdul Rahman delivered a standout performance at the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Games, securing a bronze medal in the 65kg wrestling category an impressive milestone for the country’s sporting profile.

In the bronze medal clash, Rahman overpowered Turkmenistan’s Abdulmuqit Nabi with a commanding 10-5 victory. The Pakistani wrestler displayed tactical precision, earning 3 points in the opening round and dominating the second with 7 additional points to close out the bout.

Rahman’s campaign began with a strong showing in the quarter-final, where he overcame a competitor from Belarus. Despite falling short in the semi-final against Kyrgyzstan’s representative, Rahman bounced back with resilience to claim a podium finish.

Reacting to the achievement, celebrated Pakistani wrestler Inam Butt praised Rahman’s performance, highlighting it as a reflection of the country’s emerging talent in combat sports.

“Our wrestlers continue to demonstrate that Pakistan has the ability to produce world-class athletes,” Butt commented, lauding Rahman’s determination and skill.
