Sehri diet advise for diabetic patients during Ramadan

Foods such as eggs or chicken were recommended to ensure sufficient protein intake.

A health expert has reassured diabetic patients by sharing guidance on a suitable sehri diet during ARY News’ Shan-e-Ramadan transmission.

The expert suggested that sehri should include wheat mixed with a small amount of barley, along with a proper portion of protein. Foods such as eggs or chicken were recommended to ensure sufficient protein intake. Healthy fats were also described as important, and drinking plenty of water was strongly advised.

Diabetic patients were warned to avoid oily, fried, and heavily spiced foods at sehri, as well as sugary items. Instead of sugar, the expert recommended using ground stevia leaves as a natural sweetener in drinks.

The expert also emphasized the importance of regularly checking blood sugar levels. Patients were advised to monitor their sugar after sehri, before iftar, and after breaking their fast to help maintain stable health throughout Ramadan.
