PM Imran to visit earthquake-hit areas of AJK today

Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit earthquake affected areas of Azad Jammu & Kashmir today.

According to Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lieutenant general Muhammad Afzal, a cabinet has been formed in order to monitor the relief and rehabilitation-related activities.

Chairman, while talking to the press, informed that over 5 thousand homes were affected due to devastating earthquake. All resources will be utilized for the resettlement of victims. He also added that almost 70% homes are unable to live in.

The chairman also informed that Pakistan forces and civil administrations are collectively working to bring the situation towards normalcy. He also added that 1200 more tends have been provided by NDMA. Food, medicines and other facilities are being provided to the earthquake victims.

Muhammad Afzal also informed that the Prime Minister will visit the affected areas today. The government have already announced relieved packages of 5, 5 Lacs for the inheritances of martyrs.

Remember that areas of Azaad Kashmir and Islamabad were hit by an earthquake on 27th September 2019. It was reported that at least 39 people lost their lives. It was also reported that the number of people injured increased due to the aftershocks of earthquake.

The aftershocks were said to be of 4.4 magnitude.

According to the epicenter, the magnitude of the earthquake recorded was 5.8 while its center was 5 KM north of Jhelum. The earthquake was 10KM deep beneath the earth.

The earthquake sent people racing out of buildings and homes reciting Kalmas. However men, in the affected areas, spent the night on the roadsides, whereas, women took shelter in nearby public parks.
