Sindh government’s big decision on Katchiabadies (slums)

Sindh Minister for Human Settlements Ghulam Murtaza Baloch said that Sindh government will give lease to 139 Katchiabadies (slums) soon this will help reduce the problems of the people, living in these areas.

While talking to various delegations in his office he said that as many 60 Katchiabadies in Karachi, almost 60 slums in Hyderabad, six in Shaheed Benazirabad, four in Mirpurkhas, 10 in Sukkur and three in Larkana would be given leases by the end of this year.

Commenting on Clean Karachi campaign, the Sindh Minister said that Sindh Government was committed to serve the people.

He also urged people to come forward and cooperate with Sindh Government in Clean Karachi Campaign.

It is pertinent to mention that, on July this year Prime Minister Imran Khan has launched the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme.

He said that the aim of the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme is to provide the chance to those people who cannot buy their houses.

Imran Khan further added that Naya Pakistan Housing Program will enable government servants and other people to get house at affordable installments.

The premier also vowed to provide housing facility to poor people living in shanty areas and slums of the country. He said two slums areas in Islamabad have been identified to start the project with.

PM Imran Khan went on to say that the housing units will be built on public-private partnership basis whereas the government will provide land and the private sector will construct housing units.

PM said, “18,500 housing units will be built on this site, of which 10,000 will be allocated to people with lower income background. He said balloting will be held to choose the eligible people keeping in view the large number of applicants. The project is expected to be completed in one and half year time.”
