Munir Akram, permanent representative of Pakistan to the United Nations spoke about the peace in Afghanistan at UN.

Pakistan has expressed hope that the resumption of direct talks between the United States and the Taliban would lead to a peaceful settlement in Afghanistan.

Permanent representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, Munir Akram was speaking in the UN General Assembly’s debate on the situation in Afghanistan.

Ambassador Munir Akram said, Pakistan supports Afghanistan’s vital pursuit of peace and stability.

Earlier, The General Assembly unanimously approved the resolution in favor of Pakistan’s right to self-determination, The Pakistani resolution has also received support from 81 countries.

The resolution serves to focus the world’s attention on the struggle by peoples for their inalienable right to self-determination, including those in Kashmir and Palestine.

Presenting the draft, Mr Munir Akram highlighted the importance of the right to self-determination that enjoys primacy in international law.
