The special court will issue a detailed verdict on former President Pervez Musharraf high treason case here on Thursday (today).

The privy sources revealed that the special court on Thursday (Dec 19) will issue the detailed verdict of high treason case against Musharraf at 12 pm.

Earlier on Tuesday, the special court had ordered death sentence to former president Pervez Musharraf in High treason case.

A three-member bench of the special court handed death sentence to Musharraf.

Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth headed the bench and took up the high treason case.

Three of the two judges supported the verdict.

On behalf of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government Advocate Ali Zia Bajwa led the prosecution team.

He prayed upon the court to amend the indictment against the former military ruler.

According to the verdict, Pervez Musharraf had violated the constitution on November 3, 2007.

The verdict stated the violation of the constitution proved against Pervez Musharraf and awarded death penalty under Article 6.

The high treason case against the former president for clamping the state of emergency on Nov 3, 2007.

However, The case has been pending since December 2013.

Although the special court had announced that it would deliver its verdict in the case today.

However, the government’s prosecutor, Advocate Ali Zia Bajwa, said that they had submitted three petitions today.

ISPR’S STANCE

Moreover, DG Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) tweeted the press release about the statement on decision by special court about General Pervez Musharraf.

According to the details DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said, that there is severe anger and frustration in the forces of Pakistan over the decision of the Special Court, General Pervez Musharraf cannot be a traitor.

The press release also said, an ex-Army Chief, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee and President of Pakistan, served the country for 40 years, fought wars for the defense of the country can surely never be a traitor.
