Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has arrived in Geneva, Switzerland to attend the First Global Refugee Forum, to begin from today (Tuesday).

Prime Minister Imran Khan was received by Permanent representative of Pakistan to UN Geneva, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi and Representatives of Swiss Government and UN High Commissioner for Refugees at the airport.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and Switzerland are co-hosting the forum.

PM Imran Khan, along with Turkish President Erdogan, and leaders from Costa Rica, Ethiopia and Germany, have been invited to co-convene the Forum in recognition of their exemplary role for the protection and well-being of refugees.

The Global Refugee Forum is the first major meeting on refugees of the 21st century.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will articulate Pakistan’s perspective, experience and contribution to the Afghan refugees.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan held an important meeting with United States Senator Lindsey Graham.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi was also present during the meeting.

According to the details, Senator Lindsey Graham arrived at the PAF Base Nur Khan, Rawalpindi via special plane and then reached Islamabad with a four-member delegation.

US Ambassador to Pakistan Paul Jones and Foreign Office officials welcomed the representatives upon their arrival in Pakistan.

Moreover, Prime Minister Imran Khan met with Crown Prince of Bahrain HRH Salman Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and discussed bilateral relations.

A Proton X-70 car was also gifted to Prime Minister Imran Khan by Malaysian counterpart Mahathir Mohamad on Monday has been handed over to the Pakistani government in Islamabad.

The ceremony of handing over the keys was held at the Malaysian Embassy in the federal Capital.

The keys of the car were handed over to PM’s Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood by the Malaysian High Commissioner.

Mahathir Mohamad had announced the gift for Prime Minister Pakistan, Imran Khan during his visit to Pakistan earlier in August.

Mahathir Mohamad had also announced to set up an assembly plant of the vehicle manufacturer in Pakistan.

PROTON Holdings Berhad is a Malaysian automotive company and automobile corporation active in automobile design, manufacturing, distribution and sales.

Mahathir Bin Mohamad was appointed prime minister of Malaysia in 1981, retired in 2003, and returned to the office in 2018.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi called on Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Bin Mohamad in Kuala Lumpur.

Matters of Mutual interest, bilateral relations, challenges being faced by the Muslim Ummah and other issues were came under discussion in the meeting.
