ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Law and Justice Farogh Naseem has decided to represent the government in a civil miscellaneous petition filed with the Supreme Court (SC) seeking a stay order on the apex court’s judgement directing the parliament to legislate on the extension of an army chief within six months.

According to the details, Federal Law Minister Farogh Naseem has decided to fight the Army Chief Extension case as a lawyer while he has also approached the Supreme Court to appear as a lawyer.

The government has also requested the court to form a five-member larger bench in the same case pertaining to army chief’s extension.

Federal Law Minister Frogh Naseem said that he would also advocate for General Bajwa in the Army Chief Extension Amendment case, but this time he did not need to resign from the ministry, for this purpose he has filed a petition in the Supreme Court.

Earlier in November, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Farogh Naseem has resigned from his Ministry.

According to details, Federal Law Minister Faroogh Naseem has sent his resignation to the Prime Minister on November 26.

Farooq Naseem said that he resigns because of personal reasons.

He will advocate Pervez Musharraf’s case now and as law minister he could not defend Musharraf, he added.

Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed confirmed the resignation of Frogh Naseem during a press conference in Islamabad, saying that Feroz Naseem will appear in the court tomorrow as the lawyer of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
