Airbus Officials examine PIA Crash Site

A team of eleven French experts from Airbus has reached the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft crash site to examine the incident that claimed 97 lives.

Media reports said that samples of wreckage and equipment from the wrecked plane will also be taken for research purposes. Drone cameras are being used during the investigation at the crash site. Special attention will be given by the French experts to the search for the cockpit voice record. The Airbus team has extended stay in Pakistan for 5 days.

A320 plane that crashed last week in a densely populated area near Karachi airport on Friday.

So far 43 of the 97 bodies have been identified, while DNA units of the remaining have been taken for their cross-matching with those of their family members.

Furthermore The International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Association (Ifalpa), a global body, called for the addition of one of its expert airline pilots as an adviser to the president of the Aircraft Accident and Investigation Board (AAIB).

Also, the Sindh government has stated a lack of confidence in the investigation team formed by the federal government and asked a new one that might have pilots’ representation.

Sindh Infor­mation Minister Nasir Shah said at a press conference that experts from Punjab were called without informing the Sindh government and if they were needed the provincial government could have requested by itself.

He said DNA samples were being examined at the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences of Karachi University and it would be completed in 10 days.

He said the process of collecting DNA of the family members of the plane crash victims started quickly after the crash.
