Accountability Court in Lahore has summoned opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Hamza Shehbaz in Ramzan Sugar Mills Case.

According to the details, the court has directed Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz to appear before court on June 11.

The accountability judge directed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president to show up on the next hearing at any cost.

Advocate Nawaz appeared on behalf of former chief minister Punjab. However, former director general of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Ahad Cheema did not turn up owing to the coronavirus fears.

Meanwhile, the court directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit a report on the reference against Hamza Shehbaz by next hearing.

Earlier Lahore High Court division bench granted pre-arrest bail to Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif in money laundering and assets beyond income cases. till June 17.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Tariq Abbasi heard the case.  On June 1, Shehbaz’s legal team had filed a petition before he was required to appear before a combined investigation team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

for a third time, Shehbaz had refused to appear before NAB, citing health concerns. In a statement submitted to the bureau, he said: “It has been widely reported in the media that some NAB officials have tested positive for Covid-19.”

“Please appreciate [that] I am a cancer survivor and and 69 years old. I have been advised limited exposure on account of the peculiar background of low immunity,” he said.

He added that he was available to answer any queries by the investigation team via Skype.

After he did not appear for the NAB hearing, A team of NAB Lahore officials had arrived at the residence of opposition leader Mian Shehbaz Sharif for his arrest.
