Lahore Rape Incident: Co-accused Shafqat sent to 6 days physical remand

The Lahore Court has handed Shafqat, a co-accused in the motorway rape case, over to police on a six-day physical remand.

According to the details, Shafqat was presented before the Lahore session court for physical remand today in the motorway rape case.

Section of Terrorism has also been included in the rape case against the accused.

The Police confirmed that Shafqat has confessed his involvement in the motorway gang-rape case. The DNA of the accused has matched with the victim woman.

Investigation revealed that 23-year-old Shafqat is a resident of Haroonabad, Bahawalnagar and he along with his family, has been involved in criminal activities.

The police had on Monday arrested Shafqat, an alleged accused in a motorway gang-rape case in Lahore while Shafqat is a friend of Abid, the main accused in the case.

Shafqat has been arrested from Debalpur on hints of already arrested person Waqar who has carried out criminal activities with the main accused Abid in the past.

Accused Shafqat said that Abid used to call him for the criminal activities and the night when the rape incident occurred, Abid was drunk.

Today police arrested a third suspect named Bala Mistri in the Lahore motorway gang-rape case during a raid, while the prime suspect Abid Ali still remains at large.

The accused said that after Bala Mastri left, he and Abid Ali rented a rickshaw and reached the link road.

According to Shafqat Ali, when he saw the car on the motorway, he reached there for loot. However, when the woman inside the car refused to come out, Abid broke the glass of the car.

According to the accused, the woman was not coming out of the vehicle even after breaking the mirror.

According to accused Shafqat Ali, they abused the woman by threatening to kill the children, after which they fled with cash and jewelry.
