A brave son of Pakistan, Major Raja Aziz Bhatti is being remembered on his 55th martyrdom anniversary on Saturday across the nation.

He was born in Hong Kong in 1928. He moved to Pakistan before it became independent in 1947 and lived in the village of Ladian, in the district of Gujrat.

Major Raja Aziz Bhatti was a Pakistan Army Staff Officer who received Pakistan’s highest award Nishan-e-Haider for great feat of valor.

There he enlisted with the newly formed Pakistani Army and was commissioned to the Punjab Regiment in 1950.

During Indo-Pak War in September, 1965 as a company commander in Burki, Lahore, he decided to stay with his forward platoon and defended strategic BRB Canal bravely for five days.
