On Wednesday, the Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Asad Umar met Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Matsuda Connori.

During the meeting, the two dignitaries discussed bilateral relations, especially the new prospects for economic cooperation in the aftermath of the coronavirus

The Ambassador expressed his desire to further enhance cooperation between Japan and Pakistan and help ensure the achievement of common goals.

Federal Minister Asad Umar appreciated the efforts of the Japanese Ambassador to enhance economic cooperation and said that the government initially focused on microeconomic stability, which was achieved. The government’s first priority is to move the country on the path of development.

“Economic indicators are positive and we want to boost development spending as well as benefit private sector investment,” he said.

He said that Pakistani and Japanese investors should explore possibilities for partnerships in sectors such as fisheries, agriculture, and textiles.
