Pakistan, by an overwhelming majority, elected a member of the UN Human Rights Council for the next three years.

According to the detail, Pakistan won a record number of votes in the UN Human Rights Council elections. Pakistan managed to get 169 votes out of 191.

Moreover, Pakistan won the most votes in the Asia-Pacific region

Pakistan getting so many votes is an expression of confidence in Pakistan’s policies at the international level, said FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

He went on to say, Pakistan has always raised its voice for the protection of basic human rights and protection of human rights in all international forums including the United Nations.

By expressing the importance of the UN Human Rights Council, Qureshi said,

“At our request, the UN Human Rights Council not only took note of the serious human rights violations in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir but also compiled these atrocities in the form of reports and exposed India’s illegal action.”

Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi will continue to raise his voice in favor of the oppressed all over the world, including the oppressed people of Occupied Kashmir, on the platform of the UN Human Rights Council.
