Pakistan has expressed deep sorrow and grieve over the severe earthquake in Izmir city on Turkey’s Aegean coast.

According to the details, in a statement on the social networking website, the Foreign Office spokesman expressed deep sorrow and lament over the devastation caused by the earthquake in Turkey.

The Foreign Office spokesman said, “Extremely anguished by news of the earthquake in Izmir, #Turkey, and people reportedly trapped in demolished buildings. Like always, people of Pakistan are in strong solidarity with their Turkish brethren. Our best wishes and prayers!.”

It may be recalled that a strong earthquake has been felt in the Turkish city of Izmir with a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale.

The quake also wreaked havoc in the city, causing many buildings to collapse.

The sea level has risen in the coastal city near Izmir, causing water to seep into the population, while tremors have also been felt in Bulgaria, Greece, Libya, Britain and Egypt.
