Shibli Faraz, the federal Information Minister has said Pakistan’s re-election to the UN Human Rights Council is a clear proof that the world considers Pakistan as an advocate and defender of human rights.

In a tweet today he said the membership of this important forum also reflects the increasing trust of the international community in Pakistan.

The Information Minister called it an honor and major diplomatic achievement.

Earlier today the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also termed the re-election of Pakistan in the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) as an important diplomatic achievement.

In his recent statement, the FM said Pakistan was supported by every region in its election to the human rights council. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said influential and important countries also supported Pakistan.

The Foreign Minister said this vote also shows Pakistan’s performance in the human rights council over the last three years. He said the world today is recognizing Pakistan’s role.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said human rights violations have increased in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and becoming part of the human rights council at this critical time is a big achievement.
