Mother of Mian Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif has passed away.

Begum Shamim Akhtar, 90, breathed her last today (Sunday).

“Mian Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif’s respected mother has passed away,” senior PML-N leader Ataullah Tarar tweeted.

To pay their heartfelt condolences, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) expressed grief on the demise of Begum Shamim.

PM Imran is saddened to hear about the sad demise and prayed for the departed soul.

On the other hand, COAS Bajwa has on Sunday paid heartfelt condolences on demise of Begum Shamim.

COAS expresses grief and heartfelt condolences on sad demise of Begum Shamim Akhtar mother of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif / Mian Shehbaz Sharif “May Allah Almighty bless the departed soul in eternal peace – Ameen.”

Earlier in February, Begum Shamim Akhter departed for London to see her ailing son Nawaz Sharif.

PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said Begum was advised not to travel in the light of her health and age.

Moreover, Begum Shamim Akhtar’s condition had been fragile due to her old age.
