MQM Leader Adil Siddiqui falls prey to the Coronavirus

Leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and former provincial minister Adil Siddiqui passed away due to the novel coronavirus on Monday.

According to the media reports, he tested positive for the virus on November 22 and was put on a ventilator for over a week at a private Hospital in Karachi. According to the doctors, the leader suffered from lung failure.

Siddiqui had arrived in the country earlier this month after a long time abroad.

The second wave of the COVID-19 has claimed several lives of people belonging to various walks of life including, journalists, politicians, and judges, and others.

Earlier, PPP’s Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Qamar Zaman Kaira had also announced that they had contracted the virus as well.

Coronavirus Situation in Pakistan

On the other hand, Pakistan recorded 2839 more cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours. The national tally now stands at 398,024. According to the Government’s portal, Pakistan’s infection rate for daily COVID-19 caseload has risen above 8%.

In addition to this, 40 more people succumbed to the disease, taking the death toll to 8,025. As many as 1,613 patients have recovered from the virus during the last 24 hours and 2,046 patients are in critical condition. A total of 33,302 tests were conducted across the country during this period. 341,423 people have recovered from the deadly disease while 5,508,810 samples have been tested so far.

Earlier it was revealed at the meeting of the National Command and Operation Centre that five major cities of the country, Rawalpindi, Islamabad Karachi, Hyderabad, and Peshawar are contributing 70 percent of Coronavirus spread.
