Youm-e-Dua is being observed across Pakistan on Friday for protection against coronavirus that has strengthened its roots in the country. 

As per the details, President Arif Alvi had made an announcement about Youm-e-Dua on Thursday while speaking after meeting Ulemas in Islamabad.

He had said a strategy of a combination of prayers, precautionary measures, and taking care of the weak segment of the society will be pursued in the second wave of COVID-19.

He has also said that Pakistan remained successful in controlling the pandemic in its first wave.

Also, he had asked people to follow SOPs to avoid the spread of Covid-19. He had said Ulema have an important role in spreading awareness about precautionary measures. He said they have also agreed to play their effective role in this regard.

On the other hand, President Alvi had also said that Ulema has reaffirmed the SOPs issued for mosques on April 17. He said the Ulema observed that politicians also need to demonstrate unity against the pandemic and postpone their public gatherings.

He had also urged the media to enhance its role in spreading awareness among people about SOPs against the pandemic.

Pakistan has recorded 55 more deaths due to the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 8260.

According to the Government’s COVID-19 portal, 3,262 new cases were reported in a single day. With the fresh inclusion of the cases, the national caseload now stands at 410,072.
