Key politicians of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will hold an important meeting in Lahore today to mull over plans to oust the government of Imran Khan.

The meeting will be held at the Sharif family estate in Jati Umra, the residence of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

According to spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb, all leaders of the constituent parties will be participating in the meeting.

The PPP has already announced its decision – reached during its Central Executive Committee meeting earlier this week – of fighting the PTI on all fronts, including the National Assembly, provincial assemblies and Senate. PPP announced their plan of contesting the upcoming by-elections – putting off the idea of resigning from parliament.

After the CEC meeting, Bilawal told the media that he would place the party decisions before the PDM to chalk out a future plan of action.

On the other hand, PML-Q President Ch Shujaat Hussain said the situation in the country has reached a point where it has never been before and urged the political parties to hold a dialogue in the best interest of Pakistan.

“In such a situation, the government and the Opposition should understand their duty that they have to work in the interest of the country and people,” Shujaat Hussain said in a statement and added the government should not respond to all the suggestions of the Opposition with rhetoric but should seriously consider them.

“We are allies but it is well known that when we talk about guidance, it is called opposition,” the PML-Q leader said. He suggested the ruling party to don’t fall into the trap of credit because in the race for credit some members of the assemblies do things that are not acceptable to anyone.
