Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood has announced the gradual reopening of educational institutions across the country from January 18 after reviewing the cases of the global coronavirus.

The decision was announced by Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood after a meeting of provincial education ministers in Islamabad.

Shafqat Mehmood said that educational institutions for ninth to 12th classes would be opened from January 18 and other students from primary to 8th class would start coming to school from January 25.

According to the Education Minister, higher education institutions including universities and colleges will be opened on February 1.

In addition, the board exams in March and April have been postponed and will now be held in May and June this year.

It may be recalled that all educational institutions were closed from March 15 last year, while in Sindh, educational institutions were closed since the first case came to light on February 26 and reopened on September 15 after a six-month long shutdown. They were shut down on November 26 due to the second wave of epidemics.

During the 10 to 11 month period last year, most of the educational activities were either suspended or students continued to study online and a large number of students expressed happiness over the announcement of closure of educational institutions on November 26.

However, now that Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood has announced the reopening of educational institutions, the number of students seems disappointed that they did not have such expectations from their Education Minister whom they have given different names since the closure of educational institutions.

There are various trends in this regard on social networking site Twitter, while his name is the top trend and most of the users are also expressing their displeasure in the form of memes, which suggests that students may Unhappy with the decision.
