Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed flight operations between Lahore and Islamabad after one year.

According to the details, the first flight flew from the Punjab provincial capital to the federal capital on Friday morning.

The Lahore-Islamabad flight service remained suspended for a whole year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As the services are now resumed, the airline will operate three flights a week between Lahore and Islamabad.

The first flight PK-650 carrying 26 passengers on board took off from Lahore Airport to Islamabad Airport.

The new flights will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The number of flights would be increased after a surge in the number of passengers.

Earlier in February, PIA announced discounts in fares for domestic travels after the beginning of the spring season.

PIA revealed the discounted rates for flights to Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore. As per the new announcement, PIA is now offering discounted fares while carrying 20-kilogram luggage for Rs 7,500 for one side. On 40-kg luggage, passengers will have to pay Rs 8,500.

The new initiative will come into effect immediately. PIA spokesperson said that the fares have been decreased to promote tourism and local people during the spring season.
