Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Miftah Ismail has lauded the ANP’s move to withdraw its candidate in favour of him in the by-elections of the National Assembly constituency 249.

Addressing a campaign rally in NA-249, he said, “We hope that with this favour, we will win this election.”

He said that Nawaz Sharif served the people and I will serve NA-249 following his legacy.

Miftah Ismail further said that he was grateful to the ANP on behalf of the PML-N whose candidates withdrew from the seat in our favour.

Responding to a question regarding the bitter rhetoric during the election campaign in the constituency, he said that the incident took place a month ago, in which a worker of a political party called Nawaz Sharif a thief and I lost my temper. And insulted him which was my mistake but if someone calls Nawaz Sharif a thief, then he will definitely get an answer.

In response to a question on the PPP’s contact for support in the constituency, Miftah Ismail said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had said he would consult and tell but no reply has been received from him so far. ۔

It may be recalled that the Awami National Party (ANP) had yesterday announced its separation from the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), which also includes the PML-N.

Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, ANP Central Senior Vice President Ameer Haider Khan Hoti said that an emergency meeting of the party was held today and the party’s central office bearers and key leaders attended and the agenda was a show-cause notice which has been served to the ANP.

It may be recalled that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) had served a show-cause notice to the Awami National Party (ANP) on the issue of getting votes from the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) for the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate.

Earlier, five opposition parties, including the PML-N and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), had decided to form a separate bloc in the Senate.

It may be recalled that the PML-N and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam had refused to accept PPP candidate Yousuf Raza Gilani as the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate and had agreed to adopt a strategy to bring in a separate Leader of the Opposition. The coalition ANP backed the PPP candidate.
