FM Qureshi, Spanish Counterpart Hold Joint Press conference In Islamabad
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the economic crisis in Afghanistan is not in favour of anyone and urged the international community to work for economic betterment in Afghanistan.
Addressing a joint press conference with a Spanish counterpart in the Foreign office FM Qureshi said that Pakistan and Spain both countries want peace adding that lasting peace in Afghanistan is in the interest of the region.
“We need to save Afghanistan from a humanitarian crisis, and the international community must play its part to bring Afghanistan towards stability,” he said.
The Foreign Minister said that “the international community and international organizations should restore the funds allocated for Afghanistan, Pakistan will continue to fulfil its responsibilities together with the international community.”
“The economic crisis in Afghanistan is not in anyone’s favour, the international community must work for economic betterment in Afghanistan,” he said.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that despite limited resources, Pakistan had sent relief food and medicine to the Afghan people.
On the other hand, Spain has said that Foreign Minister José Manuel’s visit to Pakistan is aimed at holding talks with key players in the region.
On Friday, the Spanish Foreign Minister met with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Islamabad.
In a video message released by the Spanish Foreign Office, Foreign Minister Jose Manuel said the purpose of the visit was to talk to key players in the region to find a way to evacuate Afghans working with Spain.
It is pertinent to mention here that this is the first visit of a Spanish Foreign Minister to Pakistan in the seventy years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Spain.
