Seven members of the same family including four children and two women have been burnt alive in an incident of fire at a house in Muzaffargarh on Sunday.

Police have registered a case against two accused in Civil Lines Police Station on complaint of Mehboob alias Kala Khan, who is one of the members of the ill-fated family, BOL News reported.

Mehboob has told the police that he had married Fauzia Bibi of his choice. Out of resentment, his father-in-law and brother-in-law set the house on fire at night, killing seven of his family members including his 2-month-old son.

The victims were identified as Muhammad Nawaz, 65, Khurshid Mai, 35, Fauzia Mai, 19, Shahnawaz, 12, Sarfraz, 10, a 2.6 years old infant Yaqub and a 2-month-old baby of Kala Khan.

The forensic team, IT team and PFSA Evidence Collection Unit reached the crime scene for further investigation.

DPO Muzaffargarh Hassan Iqbal expressed condolences to the family and said that the case will be brought to a logical conclusion soon.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar also expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the fire incident in Muzaffargarh. The Punjab CM has extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and said that he is equally aggrieved over the loss of the seven precious lives. He directed the relevant authorities to immediately submit a report on how the fire broke out.
