ISLAMABAD: On the verdict of the Supreme Court regarding dissolution of the National Assembly, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Friday said the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) was mulling over different options including the review petition.

“The SC should review its verdict. There are big countries behind the no-confidence motion. The motion has been brought under an international conspiracy,” Fawad Chaudhry said in a statement. He said a record of the global conspiracy behind the no-trust voting would be presented before the members of the National Assembly.

He said the Supreme Court and parliament had their own functions. However, the top court’s ruling shifted the supreme power from the parliament to the SC. “The verdict has put parliament’s superiority at stake. The SC did not have the content of the deputy speaker’s ruling,” he said.

The PTI leader said that the government had decided to set up an inquiry commission headed by Lt.Gen. (retd) Tariq Khan over the alleged letter.

He said that the commission would investigate the international conspiracy.

The federal minister said the federal cabinet reposed trust in Imran Khan. The entire nation stood behind the PTI chief, he maintained.

In a landmark judgment, the top court on April 7 termed the deputy speaker’s ruling conflicting to the constitution and restored the dissolved National Assembly.

The court nullified all the measures taken by Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi and said the speaker could not adjourn National Assembly’s session without voting on no-confidence motion.

The court ordered to call the legislature’s session on Saturday (April 9) for voting on no-confidence motion. It also ordered to keep the voting process free of impediments.
